At the centre of the storm, she stands still. Lilith, the first who refused, serene and untouchable, while the world around her erupts in worship and terror: masks, chains, kneeling figures, statues weeping marble tears. Desire and fear swirl together until they’re indistinguishable. Every devotion, it seems, is also a kind of dread.
